WHY “STATION SIX”
Mitchell Schellenger, founder of STATION SIX, always had a fascination with lighting. At a young age he, like many kids, was quite fond of firetrucks. It became apparent, though, that he was likely intrigued by the flashing lights on the trucks specifically. As he got older and attended concerts with his friends, Mitchell was usually seen studying the production elements, often watching the lighting programming more than the performers. While simultaneously studying Theater, Film and Television at the University of Colorado Denver, Mitchell began his professional career in concert touring working as a stagehand at Denver's "Ball Arena", formerly known as "Pepsi Center". On his walk to work he would pass by Denver Fire Station No. 6, located about 1000 feet from the loading dock of the arena. As a nod to his childhood, his first job in the industry, and his first fascination with lighting - he named his company STATION SIX.
